Cortland college student Corey Blackhurst has filed a $4.3 million lawsuit against his Lasik eye surgeon after finding a fingernail clipping embedded in his eye after surgery.

Corey Blackhurst had undergone surgery for corrective vision only two weeks ago. The day after surgery was the first day when he began to expect that there may have been an issue. He contacted the surgeons office shortly after for an explanation.

"I called them the day after and told them something didnt feel right and they just told me to give it a couple days and it was nothing unusual." said Corey in a telephone conversation.

Corey soon went to get a second opinion from a second leading surgeon in the area, who under close examination, found a fingernail clipping in the right eye of Mr. Blackhurst. When the original surgeon was contacted on this issue, he stated that he had been chewing his fingernails during the process, but did not believe that the fingernail found in the eye was his.

Now facing permanent blindness, Corey Blackhurst is suing the alleged surgeon for a sum of $4.3 million for maltreatment of a patient as well as multiple other charges.
