The American Association of Professional Eyecare Specialists concluded that 55.3% achieve visual acuity of 20/20 or better, while 92.6 achieve 20/40 or better. Other sources report that 85% achieve 20/20 or better.

Since 2004, about 1.3 million operations have been conducted in the US.
